Jan 24- Jan 28

This week we studied farm animals and talked about the letter E and reviewed the letter F. We practiced tracing and writing letters, talked about the sound that they each make, added new words to our word wall, and added letters E and F to our alphabet book.

We read several books about farm animals and also a book called Wheat and it talked about foods that come from wheat and how it is harvested. The kids were really interested in talking more about this! We also talked about chickens and hens and the eggs that they lay. We got to feel and taste hard-boiled eggs. We also talked about how milk comes from cows and we tasted plain milk, chocolate milk, and strawberry milk. Then we graphed which one was our favorite. We had a tie in our class for chocolate milk and strawberry milk! We sorted animals based on if they came from a farm or not, made two different class books about farm animals (which will get sent home starting on Monday!), made tissue paper pigs, wooly sheep, and marble painted cows. We also colored and cut out out shapes and animals and glued them on paper to make a farm.

It was also International Week this week. We learned about Russia and Pakistan and got to read some books about those places, try some cookies from Russia, and learned about what the kids in Pakistan do at school.

On Thursday we also had our 100th day of school! We watched the kindergartner's count and release 100 balloons, then count 100 cupcakes. They shared their cupcakes with us too! In our classroom we saw what a jar of 100 pennies looked like and practiced counting to 100 by ten's.

This upcoming week we will be reviewing the letters G and H and learning about the jungle!

On Monday we are planning on taking our class picture with our Gala project, so please make sure your child is at school that day, so that they can be in the picture!

And parent/teacher conferences are coming up fast! They will be on February 21st (Monday) and there will be no school, except for extended care. I'll post a sheet on Monday for you to sign up for times to meet. If for some reason you can't meet on that day, please let me know and we can plan for a new time!

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!
