This week we started talking about Fall! We talked about the changes in the weather and how the leaves change colors. The kids collected leaves and talked about how they are the same and different. We counted leaves and acorns and they sorted leaves based on their colors. We did leaf rubbings, made leaf bracelets, water painted leaf cut-outs, made glitter leaf magnets, painted a leaf using eye droppers, and also painted using spray bottles (they really enjoyed that....it was messy though! :) The students also colored their own Leaf Book, it helps them to review some positional words. There is a leaf attached to the book that they can put on, under, behind, between, above, etc. the pictures (you should check their backpacks for it, they were excited about getting them made!). We also read several stories about Fall, including a book about how seeds get around. We then sequenced cards about an oak tree growing.
We worked on making patterns this week too. We read a book about patterns and the kids tried to find different patterns around the room. We are still working on learning our letter sounds and recognizing and writing our numbers 1-10. We also saw our first and last names written and traced both names.
We also learned about the letter O this week. We met Ollie the Octopus and read a book about Octopus Stew. The students practiced writing the letter O, wrote O's in oatmeal, and made "olives."
Next week we'll be talking about Health and Nutrition, the color brown, and the letter N.
Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!
